It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the death of Joann Durkin from Coronavirus earlier this week.
Joann was a trained florist and teacher. She was a long term member of Canterbury Flower Club and was very proud to be a Canterbury Cathedral Flower Arranger. She was known for her extremely beautiful traditional work. She was also very supportive of many area members as they learnt their art. Jean Schofield, Area Chairman, remembers Joann fondly as a great competitor and a very clever teacher. Helga Cukure a neighbour and friend of Joann said "It was such privilege to know Joann. Jo inspired me to look for beauty and perfection in multitude of ways not forgetting simplicity of garden daisy, lavender and rosemarinum". Vicki Hodgkiss chairman of Canterbury Flower Club said “Canterbury Flower Club is very sad to hear that Jo Durkin, a past Chairman and member has died. She was a very talented arranger and teacher and we send our sincere condolences to her family and friends.” All of the Area echo those sentiments and send our thoughts to her family and friends at this difficult time.
