As well as several evenings with demonstrations by local and national demonstrators, we hold practical evenings where members can try their hand at a variety of designs, led by friends and members of the club.   Deal and District Flower Club knows that the social side is important to our members and regular updates and newsletters are sent out to all, and there is an emphasis on practical and interactive sessions, using Zoom while we cannot meet up in person!    Annual membership (2025) is £35 Visitors / Guests very warmly welcomed £6. Chairman is Penny Barnes. Secretary is Angela Sheehan. Please contact Angela regarding enquiries on - [email protected]

We are always happy to welcome new members to the Club, including those who have no previous experience of flower arranging, and those who just want to enjoy watching the flower demonstrations, and appreciate the friendships made at the club..… our aim is for everyone to enjoy themselves no matter what their level of experience! -  programme and more info below

Hello Flower Club Friends,
Last Wednesday four of us from the committee attended a Kent Area Council meeting (there are four a year). These meetings allow us to feedback to members any new up dates, and also its a way of sharing helpful knowledge with other flower clubs (there are 26 in Kent affiliated to NAFAS). This meeting was interesting as we got to meet the new CEO of NAFAS Richard Abraham. Richard gave a presentation which included being respectful of the NAFAS past, but very much looking to a reset / renewal of its future. All four of us that attended felt a very positive vibe, one of hope and rejuvenation / reinvention fitting for a brighter future. So we will watch and wait with great expectation! Look up the NAFAS website for more info ....https://www.nafas.org.uk/about-us/our-team/

Our next meeting is a practical session on Thursday 19th February, held in the Cleary Hall, Landmark Centre, doors open from 6.30pm for prompt start at 7pm. Penny will be showing us how to make a contemporary arrangement, using some Birch wood, and some dried materials, but included in the kit supplied is a test tube / small vase that some small fresh flowers (or something fresh from the garden) could be placed in to accompany the design if you so wish.  Please bring the fresh pieces if using, everything else will be supplied in your kit. We will also be making a KOKEDAMA HYACINTH. This is a Japanese technique of wrapping bulbs, we will be using moss. Both designs will be yours to take home and enjoy at the end of the session. Please confirm attendance deadline is by Friday 13th Feb as Penny needs to prepare enough kits for the session.Thank you to those of you that have already confirmed & remember you are also very welcome to come along watch/ learn and enjoy a cuppa!

Other News .......
Our friends at the neighbouring flower club Dover have sent me notification that they are hosting a floral demonstration by Trudie Easton entitled "Queen Bees" . Monday 23rd Feb. 7.15pm @ Whitfield village hall. Trudie visited our club a couple of years ago and performed the same demo. It was very entertaining so if any of you missed our one there is a chance to see it at Dover flower club and on this occasion its free to attend! See their information  under 'Dover Flower Club'

Look forward to seeing you soon, and with quite a few "new" flower club friends coming along ... how wonderful!
Best Wishes
Angela
